Isle of Man motocycle crash

Posted in: crashes, street racing, speed, bikes

since some of you complained that we post boring car vids … let’s take it up a notch … and what’s more dangerous then motorcycle street racing?

2007 Isle of Man TT

but first and foremost, let us introduce you to the Isle of Man … Once a year they organize a motorcycle race around … the island - Moto Tourist Trophy. none of the professional racers would catch them selfs here … almost every year someone dies during this “race” (as this year) … Thus called “Isle of Man” - as in you have to be a man and accept the risks that come with racing here …

[update 6/19] Well, here’s an example of such consequences … at 160mph

this rider actually was lucky to be alive … but retired from racing again …

and yes, they do it for the cars as well - bmw 3 e30:

we’ll leave you with a bikes again, running full speed ahead on a nice sunny day, called the “mad sunday” here on d Isle … when anyone is allowed to run as fast as you like on public roads. you know this place is crazy when a car stops overpassing a camper … because there are some bikes passing him (!) as a 3rd at 120mph +

The TT races are extremely dangerous because of the high speeds on very narrow, twisting streets, roads and lanes flanked by stone walls and even buildings. Between 1907 and 2006 there have been 223 deaths (this number includes the riders killed during the Manx Grand Prix). [wiki read]
