The crash was during Saturday’s first race in the British GT Championship season at Oulton Park in Cheshire.

Hunter’s £50,000 Ginetta G50 is thought to have hit a fellow competitor’s Aston Martin as the cars braked from 160mph while coming into the circuit’s famous Cascades S-bend. More than 1,000 shocked fans watched as the Ginetta was catapulted off the track at about 100mph, through a crash barrier. It rolled three times before coming to rest on its roof and bursting into flames.
