Limo … Crash Test
No Limousine has ever been crash tested in the UK … so 5th Gear does an interesting (and very scary in certain ways) crash test - a 1993 stretched Lincoln Town Car - against a concrete wall … at 50 mph (90 km/h).
Right before the crash test - Tom Ford takes a closer look at the interior of a 1993 Lincoln Town Car … with the help of a couple of gorgeous ladies and a few bottles of champagne.

Very Good clip. It just shows the importance of seat belts. Shame you crashed an old Limo, because the vast majority are much newer in the UK now, and Krystal Coachworks have tested a new Chrysler in a similar simulation with equal sucess - the passenger compartment stayed intact. Seat Belts are provided, but customers stuff them down the back of the seats out of sight. For some reason which escapes me, passengers feel safer in Limousines, but of course, they are no safer than in a passenger car. To date, in the U.K., since Limousines were introduced, there have been NO fatalities in these Party Machines - how many in Coaches, Buses, Taxi’s, and Trains? TOO MANY. Which must prove something - the Limousine industry, compared to other forms of paid for transport is SAFE. Yes, of course there have been accidents and injuries, and these could have been avoided had the seat belts supplied been worn. So, please, advertise your clip to be shown again, and you, together with our help in the industry, can make the Limousine experience even safer! l
