Kubica’s (read: qu-bi-tza) car went wide (trying to pass Toyota’s Jarno Trulli) & was launched into the air, then crashed into the barrier & rolled couple of times … Robert escaped unharmed from this spectacular car crash & was released from the hospital today (even drove home by himself).

  1. [update] Kubica is scheduled to be released from the hospital tomorrow … he escaped unharmed - he did NOT break his leg. He might even race next weekend at Indianapolis!

  2. That was an amazing crash. It’s also amazing that he escaped with little more than a broken leg. This is a real testament to the engineers who create these machines to be so fast, and at the same time, so safe! Get well soon Kubica!!!

  3. Truly amazing - and unbelievable I might add. Was he conscious through that?! I read somewhere he was talking to the crew that got I’m out of the wreck..

  4. I watched the race today. This is also a testament to the HANS restraint system.

  7. These cars are incredible. The entire car was destroyed but yet the cockpit stayed completely intact and Kubica is completely unharmed. It’s a true testament to the development of these cars in the last 10 years.

  17. Hell of a shunt. He’s one lucky boy.
Yet again I have to seriously question a track’s safety when there are instances where a competitor is all but flying straight at a concrete wall.

He was just unlucky enough to lose control at one of those paints. The results were incredibly and predictably destructive.
