Texas Duo Claims to Have Broken 1979 Cannonball NYC To LA Run

Richard Rawlings and co-pilot Dennis Collins claim to have broken the famous 1979 Cannonball Run time from New York City to Los Angeles of 32 hours and 51 minutes. The final time is a claimed 31 hours and 59 minutes, which has yet to be independently verified. 07 Bullrun participants decided to take a side trip … to the West Coast for a cool $50k bet in their black Ferrari 550  modified with extra fuel cells.

some “exciting” footage from this year’s bullrun start (in french)

also, check out last years vids for now:

here’s another … this IS what i call highway racing! :)

… to be honest it’s really difficult to believe that they have beat this 28 year old record. but … website states: “The good news is this trip was fully documented by the Bullrun camera team.” … so we’ll keep u posted as soon as we find some footage.         consider few facts:
- 2778 miles/32 hours = 86.8 miles/hour with stops!
- To keep 87 mph average for such a long distance you must use every chance to drive flat out (in case of this car, 200 mph) and avoid all the cities and towns as much as possible and choose the best roads, avoid cops, use containers for piss, carry as much fuel as possible and even then it’s very very hard because few can keep their 110% concentration behind the wheel for such a long period and there is no room for errors
